My True Story As A Tech Guy

I was 12 when my Dad told me and my elder sister that he had registered us at a computer training centre to learn how to use a computer.

The very first day at the training centre was the first time I had to sit down alone with a computer. I was introduced to everything from turning on a desktop computer to using it and switching it off.

My interest in building my digital skills came when I was introduced to the amazing things Microsoft Software and other popular software could do. I relentlessly would stay back after training time was over to try out the software for fun.

One day, while I was making use of my Dad's phone to browse the internet on how to use a certain feature on MS Excel, I came across a website that said "Create A Website" and without hesitation, I clicked, read through and created an account.

I told my Dad that I needed a phone to continue learning but he refused saying he had told us before that no one is getting a phone until that person is done with high school. He insisted that I do whatever learning at the computer training centre.

The problem I had at the computer training centre was that there was no access to the Internet so I had no other choice but to keep using my Dad's phone. The choice was so fun that I even had to talk about it in school with friends almost every day but I noticed they were not interested in web design like I do.

I was done with the computer training after six months, when others were no longer coming to the training centre I was still going, thinking one day the facilitator would chase me out but they didn't I turned out to be the one explaining to others when they had difficulties.

I wasn't even near graduating from high school when my Dad noticed how passionate I had been about learning stuff online, that was when he handed me a Tecno phone, I got to understand how to use HTML and CSS very well at the age of 14 but my JavaScript wasn't so good. At that time I couldn't continue to go to the computer training centre because we had moved to a new location.

I started learning PHP along with MySQL at age 15 when I bought a Nokia phone myself from my savings. When I was 17 my Dad registered me to a Phone Repair Centre without asking me first, to learn hardware and software management. This was not what I wanted, He pleaded that the money was not refundable so I had to join. I learnt that for 2 years.

I am now in my late 20s and I can gladly say the skills I took my time to learn when I was younger came in handy to pay the majority of my bills while I was in the university because I kept on learning new skills to meet up with people's changeling tasks.

I would not say I have years of experience for me it's better to say I have hours of experience in various fields. It's a successful career achievement because I was able to solve people's problems to meet their needs.
